What Does It Mean to Be Greater?
Being greater isn’t about perfection. It’s not about being the best, the richest, or the most successful. It’s not even about being better than anyone else.
It means making the better choice — especially when the easier option is one tap away. It means going out of your way to help. Choosing kindness over cynicism. Choosing depth over noise. Choosing human presence, creativity, and mindfulness in a time of endless content, algorithms, and division.
Being greater looks different for everyone. It could mean picking up trash that isn’t yours. Reading a book instead of doomscrolling. Showing up for someone who needed it. Creating something instead of just consuming. Making decisions you’d be proud of, even when no one is watching.
It’s a standard you set for yourself, and then you try to live up to it.
Why This Exists
Something important shifted as the world moved online.
Culture got faster, flatter, and louder. Algorithms replaced instincts. Convenience made every impulse easier to reach. And somewhere in all of it, a lot of us started just passing through life instead of actually living it.
Be Greater. exists for the people who feel the pull. The ones who walk past the trash and feel something calling to them. The ones who know they could be doing more — and want to.
Because the world keeps lowering its standards, and someone has to push back. These essays make the case that individual choices — small ones, made every day — are how the world actually gets better.
Through attention. Through discipline. Through compassion. Through deliberate action — online and offline.
No matter how fast culture moves, we can still choose to be greater.
